See what drove Magdalena Solis to believe she was a goddess and start sacrificing her followers.

Magdalena Solis was born in the Mexican state of Veracruz in 1945. She grew up in a poor family and had limited opportunities for education and advancement.

In the late 1960s, she moved to the town of San Francisco del Rincón in the state of Guanajuato, where she became involved in a local cult called "The Palomar."

The Palomar was led by a man named Santos, who claimed to have supernatural powers and the ability to communicate with the gods. Santos convinced his followers that he was a divine being and that they needed to make sacrifices in order to appease the gods and bring about a new era of prosperity and abundance.

Santos eventually died, and Solis and her brother Eleazar took over the cult. They renamed it "The Order of the Solar Temple" and began to demand even more extreme sacrifices from their followers.

They convinced their followers that Solis was a reincarnation of an Incan goddess, and that she needed to be worshipped and appeased in order to bring about a new age of enlightenment.

The sacrifices performed by the cult involved the killing of animals at first, but they eventually escalated to human sacrifices. The cult members were convinced that Solis had the power to bring them wealth and prosperity, and they willingly offered themselves up for sacrifice.

The cult's activities eventually came to the attention of local authorities, who arrested Solis and her brother in 1963. They were charged with multiple counts of murder, and Solis was found guilty and sentenced to 50 years in prison. She died in prison in 1983.
