On this day in 2006 the life of a brutal dictator came to a very public end. Saddam Hussein was the dictator who led Iraq through war, troubling times and a reign of terror until he was finally apprehended hiding in a hole under a remote farm house in 2003 following the US/UK led invasion. Although the fall out of the war itself led to more controversy, the downfall of a man who would torture and gas his own people was celebrated across the world.
