Talk about starvation–history and facts

Image
Talk about starvation in my opinion i will say starvation is a very delicate situation or let me call it a disease, you know not all diseases are transmisible.   According to my definition of disease:A disease is a condition or ailments that possess the ability to destroy the mental, social, physical wellbeing of an individual and might be due to an infection (growth of microbes or pathogens) present in the body system,it could also be due to some factors(environmental factors, lack of basic amenities)etc. you know some disease tends to occur due to some malfunction or disruption of the human system caused by not providing what the body need at a particular time in moment and not because of the presence of microbial growth or actions of pathogens This is the case of starvation, starvation is caused due to the inability of a person to have access to food and give the body what it need at that particular point in time causing: *loss of energy *it can cause ulceration of the abdominal w

Queen Elizabeth II had two "secret" cousins with severe disabilities that were hidden from the public, 1980

Queen Elizabeth II had two "secret" cousins with severe disabilities that were hidden from the public, 1980  Nerissa and Katherine Bowes-Lyon were two daughters of John Herbery Bowes-Lyon and his wife, Fenella. John was the brother of Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Queen Mother, so the two daughters were first cousins of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret, sharing one pair of grandparents. Nerissa was born in 1919 and Katherine was born in 1926. Both girls were born with severe learning and intellectual disabilities. In 1963 a magazine called Burke's Peerage claimed that Nerissa passed in 1940 and that Katherine passed in 1961. In 1987, it was revealed that the twins lived beyond that, and their story became the mainstream focus.  Neither sister ever learned how to talk. They both resided in the Earlwood care home. Nurses that interviewed at the house claimed that the sisters never received any gifts, Christmas or birthday cards, or money and were never

Asaba massacre–history

Image
Bird and Ottanelli argue that the failure of the international press and the British government to condemn the October 1967 Asaba massacre had serious repercussions.   Completely undeterred, Nigerian troops went on to commit additional war crimes that claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians.  Most importantly, the government of Biafra circulated the news of the violence as a powerful means of convincing Igbos that the Nigerian government’s true aim was the complete and total annihilation of the Igbo population.   It was the fear of what federal troops would do if they won the war that kept Biafran forces fighting for over two more years in what Liz Bird argues was a hopeless conflict.  Encircled and cut off from outside sources of supply, it was starvation and disease that transformed Biafra into a humanitarian catastrophe with a death toll of 1-2 million.   Photo: This late 1960s photograph shows a seated, listless child, who was among many kwashiorkor cases found in

Where is it, considering that the car is left-hand drive.

Image
Where is it, considering that the car is left-hand drive. At the moment, 66% of the world's population drives on the right side and 34% on the left. 28% of all roads are left—hand and 72% are right-hand. As you can see, left-hand traffic is basically a feature of England and its satellites.  They say it's because the English are a maritime nation, and it's more convenient for sailors to go on the left tacks, they say. It's crazy, but that's how the incomparable WIKI writes. Of the major countries-not colonies of England, only Japan suffers from leftism.  Here the reason was allegedly the samurai wearing a sword on the left side of the thigh, and the peasants, who were afraid to touch the sword, bypassed the Jedi on the right. Abduction of a Sabine Woman (or Rape of the Sabine Women)

Image
Abduction of a Sabine Woman (or Rape of the Sabine Women) is a large and complex marble statue by the Flemish sculptor and architect Giambologna (Johannes of Boulogne).  It was completed between 1579 and 1583 for Cosimo I de' Medici. Giambologna achieved widespread fame in his lifetime, and this work is widely considered his masterpiece. It has been in the Loggia dei Lanzi, Florence, since August 1582. The statue is composed in the figura serpentinata style. It depicts three nude figures: a young man in the center who has seemingly taken a woman from a despairing older man below him.  It is ostensibly based on the rape of the Sabine Women incident from the early history of Rome when the city contained relatively few women, leading to their men committing a raptio (large-scale abduction; the word is rendered as rape in archaic or literary English) of young women from nearby towns and cities. Everything You Want to Know About Tongue Splitting.

Image
Everything You Want to Know About Tongue Splitting. Tongue splitting is a type of oral body modification that involves splitting your tongue in half. It’s usually done around the tip of the tongue or in some cases toward the middle of the tongue to give the tongue a “forked” look. Everyone has different reasons for wanting to split their tongue .  Some want a certain look purely for aesthetics, to perform special types of oral sex acts, to achieve a sense of one’s self-identity, and more. This type of body mod is highly specialized, very delicate, and extremely dangerous. The tongue is dense with nerves and muscles that can easily be damaged if this procedure isn’t done by an experienced professional. And getting your tongue split puts you at high risk for possibly fatal complications like bleeding and infection. You should  never  try doing this procedure at home. Tongue splitting is considered so dangerous that even the American Dental Association (ADA) warns people not to do

The remote freezing-cold forests of Siberia

Image
The remote freezing-cold forests of Siberia In 1978, a helicopter was flying over the remote freezing-cold forests of Siberia—150 miles from the nearest settlement—attempting to find a spot to land a team of geologists, when the pilot suddenly spotted what appeared to be a garden and clear evidence of human habitation. Upon further examination, the team of geologists discovered an isolated cabin and a family living in the remote dwelling. But who were these people and why did they live in the freezing-cold wilderness so far from civilization? This is the story of the Lykov family. . . . During the 1930s, Joseph Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union and under his rule religions were threatened with persecution. This was a precarious and dangerous time for anyone who held religious beliefs. The Lykov family lived in the village of Lykovo in the Bolshesosnovsky District in Russia. The family members were Karp and his wife Akulina, and their two children, a son named Savin and a

Death and emigration in County Galway: Ireland during the Famine

Image
Death and emigration in County Galway: Ireland during the Famine  Hidden in the pages of the Irish Newspaper Archives are the names of thousands of men, women and children who were affected by the Great Famine. It is perhaps the best source to go to in search of information about the conditions which these people endured. Take for example here the Tuam Herald who reported in 1848 on the death of man name Finn near Ballinasloe and the emigration of almost 300 of the same community:  Death from Starvation: On Thursday an unfortunate man named Finn, who had been in attendance at the meeting of the board of guardians the previous day, and who, through the kind exertions of Mr. Filgate, succeeded in getting his name on the outdoor relief list, died by the roadside, on his way home, near Loville, on the road to Ahascragh.  An inquest was held by Mr. Kenny, coroner of the district, and a verdict returned of death by starvation. We understand the wretched man had been for som

JORDAN DURING THE WAR IN 1918

Image
JORDAN DURING THE WAR IN 1918 Did you know that the Qur'an is recited for 7 days 24 hours in the graves of 300 Turkish Martyr Soldiers in Jordan 300 Turkish Soldiers of the 48th Division of the 4th Army, which were responsible for protecting the Hejaz railway, were martyred in the fight against the British. The British soldiers where mislead by the local Muslims so that they would not burn our martyrs. They hid them in a cave. Turkish researcher in 1973 finds that cave. The bones of our martyrs were washed, their funeral prayers were made, they were put in this sarcophagus and were sent off to their eternal rest. Now, A beautiful martyrdom was made. The Qur'an is read in the cave for 24 hours. This place passes as official Turkish land. Rest in peace... 300 Turkish Martyrs May ALLAH (Celle Celaluhu) bless their souls .. Reincarnation can explain some of life's mysteries, it is confirmation that life does not end at death.

ILO/INO UWA (REINCARNATION)…. Reincarnation can explain some of life's mysteries, it is confirmation that life does not end at death. In Igbo land when a child is born, the parents normally goes to Afa (divination), to inquire about the life of the child. Many people visiting Afa are doing so to know who among his ancestors reincarnated in his family, this is usually done before the 8th day after child birth. Children are given names on the 8th day from the date of their birth which is also the day of circumcision in Igbo land, though some may take long in finding the exact ancestor that reincarnated into their family. There had been vivid cases of reincarnation in Igbo land, Especially after the civil war, where many people do not know the whereabouts of their loved ones who went to the war. Because the tradition in Igbo land is that when a person is presumed lost, the family should wait for 7 years before doing the burial ceremony of the lost person. Many had reincarnated w

THE MURDER OF MRS LEE AND CHILDREN

Image
THE MURDER OF MRS LEE AND CHILDREN J. Marvin Hunter, Sr.  The Lee family, father, mother, and four children had homesteaded land about 9 miles from Fort Griffin, Texas, on the banks of the Clear Fork of the Brazos in the early 1870s. T hey had cleared land, built a log cabin, and had cultivated a patch of ground. It was early fall and they were preparing to gather a bountiful harvest. These simple folks were a typical pioneer family, who thanked God daily for their blessings, thanked Him for their peace and happiness, and for the ceasing of raids of the Indians.  Early one Monday morning Mr. Lee arose and made preparations to go to Fort Griffin for supplies, intending to make the trip to the little frontier town and return before nightfall. After breakfast he hitched up his team to the wagon, kissed his wife and started out.  After clearing away the breakfast dishes, Mrs. Lee and her fourteen year-old son, went to the corn field, where they commenced gathering the corn, leaving h

On this day in 2006 the life of a brutal dictator came to a very public end.

On this day in 2006 the life of a brutal dictator came to a very public end.  Saddam Hussein was the dictator who led Iraq through war, troubling times and a reign of terror until he was finally apprehended hiding in a hole under a remote farm house in 2003 following the US/UK led invasion.  Although the fall out of the war itself led to more controversy, the downfall of a man who would torture and gas his own people was celebrated across the world.  He was put on trial for crimes against the Kurds, found guilty of mass murder and hanged on 30th December 2006. On the 20th of December Anno Domini 69, the Flavian troops led by Vespasian took Rome. Paris Catacombs🔘

Image
🔘Paris Catacombs🔘 ⚫The history of the Paris Catacombs starts in the late eighteenth century when major public health problems tied to the city’s cemeteries led to a decision to transfer their contents to an underground site. ⚫It holds the remains of more than six million people in a small part of a tunnel network built to consolidate Paris' ancient stone quarries. ⚫Because the catacombs are directly under the Paris streets, large foundations cannot be built above them and cave-ins have destroyed buildings. For this reason, there are few tall buildings in this area. ⚫In 1787, the Count of Artois, the future Charles X, visited the site in the company of a group of court ladies; in 1814, Francis I, the Austrian emperor, took a tour there; and in 1860, Napoleon III descended into the catacombs with his son. ⚫It was opened to public visitation from 1874 and welcome nearly 550,000 visitors yearly.
