The Shroud of Turin is a linen cloth that bears the image of a man who appears to have been physically crucified. It is believed by some to be the burial shroud of Jesus of Nazareth. The shroud has been housed in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, Italy since 1578. Radiocarbon dating conducted in 1988 dated the shroud to the Middle Ages, between 1260 and 1390 AD, which contradicts the belief that it is the authentic burial shroud of Jesus. However, some experts have disputed the accuracy of the radiocarbon dating and continue to argue that the shroud is much older.
