There’s a ton of horrifying deaths for bugs. But perhaps the one that’s scariest is this: It’s a dead grasshopper that was infected with the cordyceps fungus. Those stems are the fruit of the fungus, and there’s even more of it on the inside of the bug. Those stems can become infectious as well and go to other bugs. The fungus takes control of the insect's body—not the insect's mind. So the fungus is driving the body while the mind watches until the fungus completely destroys the bug from within.
