Masks showing different stages in the work done by Mrs. Anna Coleman Ladd of the American Red Cross for soldiers whose faces have been mutilated in the war.

The upper row shows casts taken from the faces as they actually are, the lower row shows the faces which Mrs.

Ladd has modeled on the foundation of the life mask with the help of photographs taken before the wound was received & on the table may be seen some of the final masks made for fit over the disfigured part of the face & colored as exactly as possible like life.

The Death Of Tightrope Walker Karl Wallenda (video) . Karl Wallenda's final — and tragic — tightrope walk was caught on video in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He had been performing stunts since he was six years old. He was trained to walk on a high wire, cycle across a tightrope, and balance as one of a seven-man pyramid. Rarely was a safety net used. For him, it seemed, nothing was impossible. Then, on March 22, 1978, the world watched in horror as Karl Wallenda fell to his death. On this day 2nd March 1945, Burma. Corporal Fazal Din was attacked by sword wielding Japanese soldiers after taking an enemy bunker and was run through the chest by one of them. Din led an attack on a number of entrenched enemy positions. The Japanese had repelled an earlier assault, killing many of his friends.  To provide support, a tank went ahead of them, but it continued moving forward, leaving the bunkers, Din attacked the one nearest him; destroying it with grenades.  The other two lay silent because they were empty. He wheeled toward the last bunker as bullets mowed more men down, but not Din. Then the shooting stopped; the Japanese had run out of ammo. Furious, eight soldiers burst out of the bunker, wielding swords. The two in front were officers, screaming as they made a beeline toward the Indians. The prisoner is generally tied to a gun with the upper part of the small of his back resting against the muzzle.  When the gun is fired, his head is seen to go straight up into the air some forty or fifty feet; the arms fly off right and left, high up in the air, and fall at, perhaps, a hundred yards distance; the legs drop to the ground beneath the muzzle of the gun; and the body is literally blown away altogether. "Blown from a gun" was a punishment often used by colonial powers against locals who believed their body parts must be together to enter the afterlife. A shell-shocked  WW1 soldier in the trenches, 1916 A creepy-looking picture of a shell-shocked soldier. Shell shock was a term used for what is now known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This psychological disorder occurs when someone goes through a traumatic event such as war, severe abuse, or other highly distressing situations.  Symptoms of PTSD include avoidance of others, intrusive thoughts, and extreme altercation in mood and arousal. People with PTSD have intense flashbacks to their traumatic events and may dissociate from reality. PTSD is thought to occur due to the brain's inability to process trauma fully. The brain will usually process experiences and "store" them. She carved the mouth to d desired shape. She had been using it until one day, while using it on herself the cassava went deep in and got stuck, she started bleeding And had to call for help She was rushed to the hospital and operated on. And the CASSAVA was brought out. She suffer from a lot of effection and had to remain in the hospital for a couple of days before being discharged from the hospital.
